As part of complying with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 fire safety signage is required, it is the legal duty of the premises owner/manager to ensure the safety of all relevant persons entering the premises by installing appropriate fire safety signage.

Working in partnership with a tried, tested and trusted company we are able to provide all your fire safety signage.

Fire Signage

Current legislation requires that from any given point within a building, occupant can easily identify their nearest safe escape route. The use, application and correct siting of signs can make a major contribution to the effectiveness of good fire safety management and are required under the Health and Safety (Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996.
These Regulations state that:

  • Employers must use fire safety signs wherever there is a risk to health and safety which cannot be controlled by other means.
  • Fire safety signs must be of a specified type.
  • All signs must contain a pictogram; text only signs are no longer acceptable.
  • Signs must be properly maintained and adequately lit.
  • Employers must ensure that signs are understood by employees.

Safety signs are divided into categories according to the type of message they are intended to convey. Each category is assigned a specific format and set of colours. Detailed specifications such as relative dimensions and the permitted relative proportions of colours are given in BS 5499.

The company that we work in partnership with supplies all types of fire safety signs covering emergency escape routes, location and identification of fire fighting equipment, fire action notices and fire door signs etc. All signs are manufactured  to BS5499.
